📥 What We Collect

When you use vkiks, we may collect the following information:

• Account data — Email address and password (hashed, never stored in plaintext)
• Profile data — Username, display name, bio, location, and interests you choose to share
• Cruise status — Loyalty tier information you voluntarily provide (e.g., Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean status)
• Content — Posts you create, experiences you join, and reports you submit
• Usage data — Basic interaction data used to improve the platform (e.g., pages visited)

We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure.

🔧 How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Display your profile and posts to other users on the platform
• Connect you with experiences and other community members
• Respond to reports and enforce our Terms of Service
• Send transactional emails (e.g., account confirmation, password reset)
• Improve and maintain the vkiks platform

We will never use your data for purposes unrelated to operating and improving vkiks without your explicit consent.

🚫 What We Don't Do

We do not:

• Sell your data to advertisers or marketing companies
• Share your email address with third parties without your consent
• Build advertising profiles based on your activity
• Use your data for purposes beyond operating vkiks

vkiks uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — Authentication and database (supabase.com)
• Netlify — Hosting and deployment (netlify.com)
• Google Fonts — Typography (fonts.google.com)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

🔐 Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:

• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt — never stored in plaintext
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Row-level security (RLS) policies ensure users can only access their own data
• Service-role keys are never exposed to the client

No system is 100% secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please contact us immediately.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights:

• Right to Know — Request what personal information we have collected about you
• Right to Delete — Request deletion of your personal data

🍪 Cookies & Local Storage

vkiks uses browser localStorage to remember your age verification preference. We use session cookies provided by Supabase for authentication. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

🔄 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
