Privacy Policy

Important beta notice

This policy describes the current product implementation. It is a product-operating draft and should be reviewed by qualified privacy counsel before a broad public launch or use in additional countries.

1. Information we collect

Account data: email address, authentication identifiers, session data, and account role.
Profile data: creator handle, display name, biography, avatar, and platforms you choose to list.
Creator content: camera and microphone recordings, uploaded reaction media, titles, notes, markers, and editing choices.
Sync data: source provider, source URL or identifier, play, pause, seek, rewind, rate, and timing events.
Viewer data: follows, library state, and watch progress when those features are available.
Technical data: IP address and request information processed in hosting logs, browser and device details, errors, and security events.
Support data: messages, feedback, and troubleshooting details you send us.

2. Camera and microphone

V-Kiks asks for browser permission before recording. We use camera and microphone access to create the reaction media you choose to record. We do not intentionally capture the source program's video or audio as part of the creator upload.

3. Browser extension data

The V-Kiks beta extension can read and control supported watch pages to provide sync. It may read playback state, source identifiers, and V-Kiks reaction-package data needed for the active session.

The extension is not designed to collect source-account passwords, payment-card information, browsing history outside declared V-Kiks and supported watch pages, or a copy of the source program. Extension data is used only to provide and troubleshoot V-Kiks functionality.

The extension stores the selected watch-along, its timing, presentation settings, and temporary reaction-media access information in Chrome local storage. Optional diagnostic logs are off by default. When enabled in the extension popup, a bounded log of up to 240 entries stays on your device; it is not uploaded automatically. Turning diagnostics off clears the stored log. Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome local storage.

The store package requests storage permission and access to vkiks.com, www.vkiks.com, Netflix, and Crunchyroll for the active watch-along. The development beta also permits local development and two V-Kiks Netlify testing origins. It does not request access to unrelated websites. Camera and microphone permission is requested separately by the V-Kiks website, not by the extension.

Use of information received through the extension follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Extension data is not used for advertising, sold to data brokers, or used to determine creditworthiness. Human access is limited to user-directed support, security investigations, legal requirements, or aggregated data that does not identify an individual.

4. How we use information

Authenticate users and route creator and viewer accounts.
Record, upload, publish, retrieve, and delete reaction packages.
Synchronize reaction playback with the selected official source.
Secure the service, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot failures.
Respond to support, privacy, safety, and copyright requests.
Measure founding-beta completion and improve the workflow.

5. Service providers and source platforms

Current infrastructure includes:

Neon: authentication and application database.
Cloudflare R2: private creator-media storage.
Supabase: a temporary recovery copy of pre-migration records and media, retained while returning-account and upload checks are completed.
Netlify: website hosting, serverless functions, deployment, and request logs.
Google Fonts and jsDelivr: page assets used by the current site.
YouTube and selected source providers: official source playback you choose to open.

Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. V-Kiks is not responsible for a source provider's separate data practices.

6. Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal data. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate V-Kiks, when you direct us to share a watch package, to investigate abuse, to protect rights and safety, or when law requires it.

An unlisted watch link is not access-controlled. Anyone who receives that link may be able to open the reaction until the creator deletes it.

7. Cookies and local storage

Our authentication provider uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in sessions. V-Kiks also uses local storage for drafts, editor state, preferences, and beta workflow state. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Retention and deletion

Published creator packages are currently retained until the creator deletes them or asks us to remove them. Account and profile data is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period needed for security, legal obligations, backup rotation, and dispute handling.

To request account or personal-data deletion, email lewis.peralta@primpulsive.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Security

We use HTTPS, managed authentication, private storage controls, signed media URLs, and database access policies. No online system is completely secure, and the founding beta should not be used for confidential or highly sensitive material.

10. Children and creator eligibility

Founding creator accounts are limited to adults age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child under 13 has submitted data.

11. Your choices and contact

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data, or to object to certain processing. Send requests or privacy questions to lewis.peralta@primpulsive.com.
